Another Year, Another Costume Slayed!!

Wednesday, 7 August 2019

Once again I had the amazing opportunity of being the plus-size model for The Lost Tribe's 2020 presentation and oh was it an amazing experience.

This year the band is called Anansi influenced by the Afro Caribbean tales of a tricky spider called Anansi for which my costume was the namesake!

Anansi is such a beautiful costume but for a minute I thought I wasn't even gonna make it on the stage.
Life is so interesting, last year which was my first year everything was set and ready and I was a nervous wreck. I had nothing to worry about and I could not get out of my head. This year, they were perfecting my costume that day and I was breathing at a steady pace lol.

Then the magic happened!

Though this was my second time around insecurity did creep in.
I have never been a fan of my legs, I got them from my mama and I want to give them back!
On the stage last year I was much more covered but this year, these legs were out there for the world to see and honey you couldn't miss them. It truly was a suck it up moment. I had to get the job done to the best of my ability!

Even at this stage of my career, I do sometimes doubt my body. I am not immune to the beauty standard norms, I see what is current and considered beautiful and I know I am not always that!
The only thing I may do differently is that I push through! I push through because this body is a blessing and my life is a blessing and I need to be a blessing to others.

Carnival may not be your thing and that's fine but we all go to the beach or the pool and we all want to look fantastic in our swimsuits.

So here are a few tips and tricks for rocking a swimsuit at any size....

1- Find a cute swimsuit that fits you flatteringly
2- Buy it
3- Put it on
4- Go to the beach!!

Tada!!!
Love and Light....Mwah!
